How do you go about marketing pure elegance, fine art, genuine feelings and never ending passion. When it comes to presenting through the prism of haute couture for gentlemen. This is my story, my style and why I choose to wear Sciamat.

Sciamat

Sciamat, an Italian brand, based in Milan, created by Valentino and Nicola Ricci, triggered the great evolution of Pitti Uomo. Sciamat completely changed the way modern “dandies” used to dress, creating a whole new generation of bloggers, tailors and dressers. I had the honour to meet both of them and wear their exquisite bespoke clothes, by virtue of their first retailer in Greece, Bespoke Athens. For me in 2016, it is important to be able to understand the art of clothing and how to make it look so effortless when it comes to my personal style.

Valentino and Nicola Ricci deeply respect and adore handmade, therefore they are dedicated to bespoke tailoring, which is unique. They create gracious and majestic, yet artistic, boheme and rock jackets with high collar, wide lapel, bold breast and delicate waist.

Sciamat’s main aim is liberation through the freedom of movement. They manage to create beauty without restriction. There is no padding, in any of their clothing and upon customer request they even completely avoid use of canvas. They have managed to remove all structural elements by the use of innovative cut and by forming, stretching and shaping the fabric. My Style Tips

For me it is important to choose clothes that represent me. I chose the following. A single-breasted jacket with curved lapel, double-breasted vest in pied-de-poul pattern and prince –de-galles overcoat, all made by an extremely heavy cloth that only Sciamat could manage to make it feel so light. It is important for me to be comfortable but look good at the same time.

They created a gorgeous drape and it was important for me to team it with a tie & shirt, once again understanding these are all handmade by Bespoke Athens. Yes, of course, it makes a difference in appearance but also in my personal confidence.

The exquisite handmade shoes by Ioannis Karagiorgos, felt amazing and I could walk in them all day long.  Finally, it is an accessory I want to trend this year and it gives it an added touch to who I am. Yes I am talking about the gorgeous cane by Swaine Adeney Brigg.

Whether you´re planning a short weekend break or just looking to inject some French chic into your own ensemble, everyone wants to know the timeless rules of how to dress like a Parisian. Fashion savvy women have an enviable library of advice (and accessories) which make it easier for them to get the right style quicker than their male French urbanites who have lesser resources to help them with their quest to dress better. There are several tried and tested statutes that can help to cement your apparel acceptance when you hit the streets of the city of lights.
Key investments, both in clothing and accessories will always win points. Like their female counterparts, investments in basic luxury elements will allow you to start buying at a higher quality and lower quantity. This will enable you to make better choices, faster, especially with day wear. The Parisian male is prepared to spend a little more to get luxury linens and designer denims for his staple jean and shirt commodities. A fabric audit is always a good idea as materials like leather, cashmere, linen; cotton, cashmere and denim are always favoured over their synthetic complements.

Trainers are not a good idea, unless they’re vintage Chuck Taylors or a designer name. The main stream sport branded ranges will sadly only leave you looking like an American tourist. If you are not overly confident with basic styling, then elements like deck shoes or Chukka boots can give you a jagged look but with a little more style. The most favoured street footwear is composed of leather pointed shoes in neutral blacks and browns (in lace-up and monk strap options).These versatile options can be worn with anything from jeans to trousers, so they will certainly put you on a favourable pied. Taking good care of your shoes also is critical. Maintain them, wash them and polish them regularly to keep them looking their best.

The daily ready-to-wear wardrobe should fit a little slimmer everywhere than the general European man´s average. This is important for elements such as suits or coats as the tailoring has to be inch perfect. Forget about sagging crotches, armpits or cuffs. Think about streamlining and easy options to achieve this look. Don´t worry if your favourite off the rack shirt fits badly as it can easily be remedied by a good tailor.

Paris 2016 Minus Five

Gracie Opulanza founder of MenStyleFashion walked days through out the streets of Paris scouting for street style images. Walking the Renaissance Rue´s of Paris without a scarf between September and May is like walking around naked. The European-looped scarf is one of the ultimate staple accessories and a signature product that never looks out of place. It is available in a multitude of fabrics, lengths and styles to fulfil your every aesthetic. My goodness walking in minus five like Gracie did trend or no trend the power of chunky scarves served its purposes on many levels.

“French tailoring has a specific ´stamp´ in terms of detailing and gradual waist suppression. These range from the signature skirt flair on suit jackets to a more narrow trouser leg, and the universally recognizable regal posture created by the high armhole cut and la cigarette shoulder.”

The commandment of layering is just as important to men, as it is to women. French are great believers in layering and they do it very well. The trick is to make it look effortless, a la shirt under sweater under coat, then maybe even toss in a scarf. This will reinforce the street style predilection for looking ´as if you’re too cool to fuss over an outfit.´ The key to this look is to keep the layering discreet; each layer should allow the layer under it to be slightly visible.

All the best wardrobes are versatile, and the most versatile items to invest in are blacks and neutrals, which if you walk around Sant Germain De Pres for a while, you can see are well adhered to. More fashion forward men can get away with the occasional flash of colour in their wardrobe or by teaming up an outfit with contrasting accessories. The smart money goes on the black, white, grey, brown, and navy ranges.

Teaming blazers with dark wash jeans originated in Paris. Like his female peer, the Parisian man likes to look like he threw these items together effortlessly. Successful pairing will make it seem like a flawlessly tailored blazer is just as unaffected for you as well-worn jeans or an un-ironed shirt. The same policy can also be applied to the reverse pairing; a worn leather jacket with a crisp tailored shirt or trousers will also do the job.

The fundamentals of putting all the elements above together are simple. Begin with an un-ironed, neutral coloured shirt (either a button down option or a cotton t-shirt will do) and place this alongside a V-neck sweater. These should then be combined with a perfectly tailored suit jacket or a brown leather jacket that fits like a glove. Compliment this look by adding a fitted pair of trousers or dark wash denims with a classic brown or black belt. A pair of leather pointed shoes and a European-looped scarf will complete your prêt pour la rue look.

Whilst in Paris for the men’s fashion week, I decided to go and visit the Foundation Louis Vuitton.I am also exploring street style fashion for 2016 to understand where men are at when it comes to dressing well. I am not talking about when you walk out of a fashion show, for me, that is staged style and one I have had enough of.It does not reflect what the guys are really wearing anyway. The beauty in spotting street style is that I must keep an open mind as to what is being showcased is in real time and in any given setting. The Foundation Louis Vuitton is designed by renowned designer Frank Gehry, and in the midst of this impressive architectural structure, I spotted a tall outrageously super futuristic guy, who clearly was pushing the boundaries for menswear.

In my mind I thought, who has the balls to wear white in winter let alone from head to toe? I had to just go and seek out the story and the last thing I expected was to hear an American accent when I introduced myself. Welcome to 2016 street style. This is what is trending in New York and is showcased on the streets of Paris. Little did I know the man I was about to meet was described in Time magazine as Karim Rashid and they quoted the following: “Karim is the most famous industrial designer in all the Americas”.

White Winter In Paris

Seeing any man in white for me is hardcore in the sense that this colour is just complicated when it comes to wearing it during the day. But to see a man choose to showcase his style in white and during winter, is what got my attention in the first place.
