In 2016 as a designer one has to always think out side the box when it comes to innovative clothing collections. I am not sure what this is all about but it certainly got my attention to write about it. It would only take a French designer to come up with this.   The creative brand called Calchemise have decided to recreate the man’s  shirt. I think that menswear should always have a  sense of humor. I don’t know even know what to call this dress shirt, shirt or play-suit collection. I don’t even know if it’s to be worn with a suit or is it made to sleep in?

The company describe themselves as Un petit pas pour l’humanité, un grand pas pour l’homme. Aujourd’hui, la chemise et le caleçon ne font qu’un.  I do like how the Spanish  define it.

Will It Trend

A couple of years ago I wrote about how I wear men’s shirts to bed.  Could this be the solution to my question? Maybe women will go out and buy it too, as a gift for their loved ones. I guess the worse case scenario is a new pajama party trend begins. Is it comfortable to sleep in as a guy?  The question in Spanish is, La pregunta es: ¿Cuántos hombres estarían dispuestos a ponerse el“calchemise”?

Would it be an outfit guys would wear amongst the streets of Madrid let alone Barcelona or Paris.

As a big fan of the South by Southwest Conference, I always make sure I tune in to see my favourite companies and stars make their appearances. This year, SXSW was held in Austin, Texas and in my opinion was one of the best to date. As I was perusing all of the videos surrounding SXSW, I came across something new, Mack Weldon. Mack Weldon is an underwear company that claim to make the best underwear in the world. From the countless videos I’ve now watched, I actually believe they are and I haven’t even worn a pair! I’m ready to actually get myself a pair right after I’m done writing this article!

I honestly think Mack Weldon‘s videos from SXSW could change the way you look at underwear and even change your undergarment life from here on out. I’d love you to start by watching the first video I saw of Mack Weldon at SXSW featuring The Founder in all of his eccentric Texan glory.

If you’re like me, you will have sat there with a huge grim the entire time. You can feel the passion and the enthusiasm the Mack Weldon team have about their product and it’s contagious.

I have drawn two conclusions about Mack Weldon and they are as follows; either these guys are ON something, or their underwear really is the best.

I’m about to go and buy a pair. I have to know what it feels like!

Have you ever bought a cheap umbrella from a convenience store thinking that it was a good deal since it was affordable and the quality seemed nice only to be disappointed when it started raining? There you are standing in the rain, thinking that you are prepared when all of a sudden an errant gust of wind blows on the umbrella and the hinges crack, it inverts and you are left with a useless bit of metal and fabric. Many of you have been through such a situation and have come out of it realizing that just because something is affordable doesn’t make it good. Paying more for quality goods ensures that what you buy won’t unravel at the slightest gust of wind. It will last, it will be strong and you will most likely get a lot of use out of it until you need to replace it. The same principles apply when it comes to buying underwear as this article will show.

There is a world of difference between the type of bed that you would get at a cheap motel and one that you would find in a 5-star hotel. The same principle applies when it comes to purchasing designer underwear over something that is available for bargain-basement prices.

My Current Underwear

I have lots of different underwear in my wardrobe and they are all boxer briefs. I like this style of underwear as it has decent coverage and is snug unlike traditional boxer shorts. One of the problems I have with some of my current underwear is that it is too tight and therefor becoming too warm. It is partly due that by using the tumble dryer a few times the size shrinks and becomes too tight. I find myself taking my underwear of in bed as it just becomes too hot and I start to sweat.

Last week I got 4 pairs of boxer briefs from the Comfortable Boxer co. through the post. This company has just launched a Kickstarer campaign to get the funding to produce its range of comfortable boxer briefs. You can read more about the Kickstarter project here.

I have tried this underwear for a week now and I must say I am sold. The boxer briefs feel soft, cool, breathable and are not too tight at all. Also after using the washing machine and tumble dryer, there are no signs of shrinkage. I hardly feel I have the underwear on. It all comes down to the main fabric that is used, which is a combination of 90% modal and 10% elastane. It is this modal fabric that gives this underwear its softness, it is twice as soft as cotton. Modal is derived from beechwood trees and is produced in an eco friendly way.

Everything else on the boxer briefs is done right from the elastic band to the stitching, I could not fault it. What I really liked was that there is no branding on the elastic band, giving the briefs an understated look. The price of $15 per pair is very reasonable if you consider the quality, the premium materials and how comfortable it wears.

Underwear is a very personal choice by men. For the most part men are always complaining about how uncomfortable it is on their balls, especially on long haul flights or long trips in the car. It’s all in the packaging they say. First Impressions Counts

As you all know first impressions count when it comes to you and your packaging. Hidden at close range were four enticing underwear for me to look and feel, I’m a huge fan of surprises.
